Do you have a scary story so good it could wake the dead — or at least win you $500?

Halloween is sneaking up faster than a raccoon at a midnight pumpkin buffet, and FACT TV wants your most terrifying, hilarious, or downright bizarre tale!

👻 The Challenge:

Grab your phone and record your spookiest story — whether it’s a one-minute ghostly confession or a 15-minute cinematic masterpiece. It can be as simple as you telling a story to the camera or as elaborate as a full short film.

💰 The Prizes:

🥇 1st Place: $500
🥈 2nd Place: $250
🥉 3rd Place: $150

🏆 How to Win:

FACT TV staff will judge the winners from the Top 5 videos with the most unique views and total watch time — so share your story and get those views! Creativity, storytelling, and performance will all count toward who takes home the cash (and bragging rights).

Videos posted for public viewing: October 29th – 31st
Winners announced live on FACT TV’s website and cable channel at 3 PM on Halloween!

FACT TV Halloween Story Contest Submission & Legal Notice Falls Area Community Television (FACT TV), a non-profit community media organization located in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Eligibility: This contest is open to residents of Vermont and New Hampshire. Participants must be 13 years of age or older. If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must provide written consent for entry. Employees, contractors, and board members of FACT TV, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible to win cash prizes but may participate for exhibition purposes. Submission Requirements: 1. Entries must be original works created by the submitting individual or group. 2. Videos may range from 1 minute to 15 minutes in length. 3. Content must be appropriate for public broadcast and comply with FCC and community access content standards — no hate speech, obscenity, or unlawful material. 4. Submissions must be received by October 27, 2025, 11:59 PM (ET). 5. By submitting, you grant FACT TV a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to broadcast, stream, and share your video on FACT TV channels, website, and social media platforms for promotional and community engagement purposes. Judging and Prizes: • The top five submissions will be selected based on unique views and total watch time between October 29 and October 31, 2025. • From these five, FACT TV staff will determine the winners based on creativity, storytelling, and performance quality. • Prizes: • 1st Place – $500 • 2nd Place – $250 • 3rd Place – $150 • Winners will be announced live on October 31, 2025, at 3:00 PM on FACT TV’s website and cable channel. • Decisions by FACT TV staff are final and binding. Liability and Release: By entering, participants agree that FACT TV, its employees, volunteers, officers, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any claim, dispute, or controversy arising from participation in the contest, including but not limited to the judging process, prize allocation, or interpretation of rules. FACT TV assumes no responsibility for technical failures, data loss, or submission errors. All participants acknowledge that the judging process is subjective in nature, and while FACT TV will make a good-faith effort to ensure fairness and transparency, participants waive any claim regarding the outcome of the competition. Ownership and Rights: Entrants retain ownership of their submissions but grant FACT TV the right to use, reproduce, display, and distribute their videos, in whole or in part, for promotional and archival purposes. FACT TV is not responsible for unauthorized third-party use of submissions. Compliance: This contest is intended as a community creative challenge and is not a lottery or game of chance. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter. Void where prohibited by law. All activities related to this contest shall be governed by the laws of the State of Vermont and applicable federal law. Agreement: Participation constitutes full and unconditional agreement to these terms. FACT TV reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the contest if necessary due to technical or other unforeseen circumstances.
