Curious about the nighttime visitors to your porch light or moths tapping on your window? The Horatio Colony Nature Preserve is excited to partner with the Caterpillar Lab for an evening exploration of caterpillars, moths, and other insects. You will meet local caterpillars, learn about their natural history, and discuss mothing and its role in research and nature exploration. We will turn on the moth light and wait for a bit while we investigate the forest understory for insects. The evening will end at the moth light, a specialized bulb attractive to nocturnal insects, the stars of the show! This event is appropriate for all ages of explorers, though it may not be appropriate for more casually-interested young children. Meet us at the preserve at 7:30 p.m. Registration required by Friday, July 5.
