Sage Tokash, the education director at the New London Barn Playhouse, discusses the role of an education director in a theater and the various education programs offered. The theater brings shows and teaching artists to schools, incorporating arts into the curriculum. They also organize touring shows with professional actors and build the shows on-site. The productions are tailored to different age groups and often tied to curriculum. The theater also runs a summer program for teens and explores the intersection of theater and ecology. Transportation challenges for students attending theater programs are being addressed through partnerships with volunteer organizations.
